“Hello, my name is Adolfo. I'm not a professional musician. I take the guitar as a hobby. And although I dedicate a lot of time to the guitar, it's really challenging to learn it without proper guidance, especially after some years of playing. I started to like jazz a lot and it was hard to find a way to study it by by myself. If I would look for an online pre recorded course, I would find that perhaps the material was too advanced and it was not suited for someone without proper music education as I am. And also trying to find a teacher that specialized in jazz was hard to do in my city. After realizing that I was wasting perhaps too much time trying to learn scales, arpeggios, or repeating the same technical exercises and not even applying it while playing, I decided that I needed a step by step jazz system that I could join. And I saw there was an opportunity. Chef was just starting his his academy and I saw it and I decided that I would join and speak to a teacher directly. And I realized that that was a very, very good idea. Very soon it was not only the teacher, it was a community. You can share what you're doing with them and you can learn the Yaz standards in a system that starts from the very simple ones and it builds up. You can find ways and guidance to start doing things at the level that you are at the moment. So I realized that I didn't need to learn too many things, but rather to start using a few of the resources that I already could use and to start getting more into the language and change the way I was practicing. And after some time I realized that I could start playing something that sounds like jazz. The Chase Academy has given me the opportunity to start doing this and I have been happy to be here for two years and also remember having the opportunity to be heard in live sessions and also just to record yourself and try to achieve a specific challenge. It's incredibly useful. I'll be happy to continue in Chase Academy and I do recommend to anyone to to join if you want to learn jazz and you want to optimize your practice. I hope this was helpful. Goodbye.”
