“Hi everyone. My name is Robert Blake. I'm a retired Spanish professor, but I'm an avid jazz guitarist and I have a little trio group which is called the Midnight Jazz Trio. I live in Davis, California and I have fun doing that. But I'm always interested in improving myself. And that's why Chase Maddox has made such a difference in how I play music. His videos are super clear. He doesn't play gratuitously just to impress you with how good he is. No, he's always trying to teach you something. And his tabs, his notes and tabs PDFs that he produces are always super clear, spot on, and always ready to go when he posts a video. His tabs are all ready. You don't have to wait several days for it to come. I've used all kinds of his PDFs to help me. In addition to the video, the videos that he posts in particular, I've used his PDFs on melodic minor and the secret jazz chord, ideas about West Montgomery, ideas about Charlie Christian, George Benson, his bebop pick patterns book, and most recently his Master Jazz Workout, which is so insightful, showing you how you can use the flatted nine of the five chord to go to the seven of the five chord and then the three of the one chord. In particular, his last presentation on the two categories or the two chords of George Benson, that just really opened up so many things for me. Incredibly insightful. He's always generous. He practically gives away his stuff. He answers questions off of his YouTube presentations and you get the answers within a day or so. And so I can't speak too highly of Chase and I hope he keeps teaching because he's truly a gifted teacher. Thank you.”
