I have always been curious about what contributes to the aromas, tastes and structure of wines, and this tutorial walked me through these points for just one - in an hour! The fact that it took this long suggests the detail which was very interesting, and I hope to attend other sessions to further my sensory education.

I really enjoyed this five-week virtual wine aroma course. Isabelle provided clear instructions ahead of each class, including which wines to buy and aroma standards to prepare, and the weekly exercises made exploring and comparing aromas both fun and engaging. I now use these skills even casually with friends, and unexpectedly, the course helped strengthen my sense of smell after COVID. I noticed I was detecting more everyday aromas again, which has been incredible and deeply rewarding.

Learning aromas this way was a lot of fun - it felt just like being in a chemistry class! The course significantly increased my awareness of aromas around me. While consistent practice is still needed to confidently detect aromas in a glass, I've also somewhat overcome my fear of sharing my perceptions of aromas and tasting notes with others. I really appreciate Isabelle for being such a great cheerleader!

I was very pleased with my purchase of the Aroma Wheel. Isabelle was quick to respond to all my questions. After placing the order the wheels arrived in short order. My group appreciated the quality and design of this particular Aroma Wheel, which will last much longer than others I have seen.

I was developing an inferiority complex about wine, thinking that I just wasn’t getting it, no more! You have demystified the subject, giving me the ability to enjoy and taste wine objectively. I am much more confident about what I perceive; I just need more practice and exposure.

Happily, Isabelle represents the best of new thinking when it comes to how to experience wine and talk about it. Out with the old fogeys and their "notes of Earl Gray tea"! In with friendly, approachable conversation that encourages every person to describe simply what they're actually seeing and tasting, not what they're "supposed" to be seeing and tasting. Isabelle is helping to dismantle the walls that wine has built around itself for far too long. Her approach is refreshing and fun!

My biggest takeaway: The need to consciously practice smelling, to ingrain the aroma into the memory until it can be distinctly detected from among others.

When you eat, sometimes there'll be a subtle flavor that doesn't necessarily stand out. But now, I'm doing it mindfully and thinking, well, what was that? What made that difference? And then, I can go back and figure out what it was.

I learned a lot during the challenge, and I look forward to spending some time doing this. These practices are such logical approaches. I never would have thought of doing these. I thought the practical assignments were great, especially creating the aroma samples. Very helpful and enjoyable.

One of the key learning moments thus far has been to recognize that for the most part, I have been ignoring the aromas around me. Hence, losing the opportunity to broaden my repertoire of associations.

As a recent WSET 3 certified wine professional, and an award winning winemaker, this course introduces a different perspective of truly focusing on the "HOW" of identifing the aromas of wine. It starts by clearly distinguishing the difference between how to "TASTE" (Sweet, Sour, Salty, Bitter and Umami) and how to sense/smell "AROMAs", (Orthonasel and Retronasal). The videos are easy to follow and the assigments might appear to be simple to the point you may want to just glance over them, but don't....even though they are simpe, they might suprise you on how much you can learn in a short time. It's well worth taking the time to sit in a place where you can focus on the lessons and assigments if you're serious about gaining or advancing the skill of really becoming a highly qualified wine taster. At first, I disregarded the message about the skill gained in this course vs other courses such as WSET, however, after completing this course...you'll possibly change your perspective and increase your skill as I have. This course doesn't confine you with expected outcomes when tasting wines, it teaches you "HOW" to build your own outcomes based upon how you taste and sense wine. Good luck, remember, it's just you, this course is not required, there are no "must pass" scenairos, so make the most of your time to learn the subject because "Learning IS the goal"

I bought this for my sister-in-Law the Oenophile. I got mine directly from A.C. Noble many years ago. As my title says, this is not to say these are the only flavors and aromas you can describe, they are intended to be a starting point for wine tasting, and from the center to the rim, show how flavors go from the general to the specific. A useful wheel.

This aroma wheel was prepared by a professor and expert wine evaluator at the University of California at Davis. This is the location of the foremost school of grape growing and wine making in the United States. It is very helpful in developing a good sense of the aromas present in wine. And it should be in every serious wine fan's tool kit.

I am a novice as regards tasting wines. The course opened up the smelling sensation as gateway to tasting wine. I really never thought about wine in those terms before the course.I think it provided a strong foundation to go forward. I was pleased with learning descriptors for the different aromas. I learned a lot in a short time. The experience was effortless-because it was fun. The instructor is an experienced professional and a source of exper, practical knowledge. I'm much more confident about tasting wines and talking about it with friends.

Isabelle recently presented at a seminar I organized for our annual Technical Conference; her talk addressing the Role of Sensory and Consumer Research in Wine Style Guidance was as cogent as it was eye-opening to the attendees. Her discussion of common myths surrounding wine consumers was particularly revelatory to the audience. It was a great pleasure to have a scholar of Isabelle's caliber as one of our speakers.

When I was kick-starting my career in wine sensory science, Isabelle was able to readily transfer her depth of experience and knowledge. She provided me with the methods and skills required to recruit and train an external sensory panel and to deal with the intricacies of sensory data analysis. Isabelle was wonderful to work with and has since become a valued and trusted mentor.

Isabelle is one of those rare professionals whose skills transcend a simple mastery of sensory science to the ability to educate and build relationships across diverse corporate functions. Isabelle's ability to educate me about the nature of and value of sensory science was instrumental in evolving the relationship between our departments from one of distrust to full cooperation - epitomized by our co-presentation of sensory research at industry seminars. Isabelle was a pleasure to work with on both a professional and interpersonal level.
